Our School

Holy Trinity National School is a small creative co educational school situated in the heart of beautiful Westport. We have three classrooms. Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st Class are in the Junior Classroom. 2nd Class and 3rd Class are in the Middle Room and 4th Class-6th Class are in the Senior Room. In our small school environment all pupils and staff get to know each other very well and many strong relationships and friendships are formed among our pupils. All our pupils are valued and respected and experience a sense of caring and belonging.

Our school is under the patronage of The Church of Ireland and also welcomes children from different faiths and none. We currently have a number of families from different nationalities and faiths and we enjoy learning from each other.

Our school caters for children with various special educational needs as well as for children whose first language is not English. We currently have a Special Education teacher, an English as an Additional Language teacher, two Special Needs Assistants and a part time secretary who brings her friendly dog Yasha with her.

On a weekly basis our children enjoy drama lessons and Irish dancing lessons with specialist teachers.

Throughout the school year pupils participate in many whole school activities including our annual Christmas concert, an Irish dancing and music performance, gardening club, Westport Art's festival activities, Active week, Friendship Week, dressing up day, making harvest soup and a variety of other activities. Our pupils also enjoy gaelic training, spike ball, cross country running, Greenway cycles, swimming and quizzes. Click on whole school activities to see details of these activities and others.

Developing an appreciation by pupils of Ireland's culture, traditions and language is an integral part of the school's educational activities.
